The beating heart of our home – a space for lounging in the morning, card games in the afternoon, or cocktails and laughter in the evening. Set around a roaring log stove, and surrounded by walls finished in a special effect by a member of our family, the drawing room makes for a wonderful gathering place. Towards the end of the room, a box window with seating all around it enjoys the best views in the house.
The Study is a cosier, more intimate space to withdraw and relax, with it’s own log stove, a 49″ smart TV and fantastic views towards the hills. The old Chesterfield is great to sink into with a good book, while the desk behind it is a quiet spot for concentration, should the need for work arise (we very much hope it never does!). Throughout the house, you can enjoy fast WiFi for streaming or working.
This bright, cheerful room features hand-painted tartan walls, finished by a member of our family. The deep and inviting sofa is made for lazy days and family evenings in front of the 55″ smart TV. We find this is a perfect children’s hideaway during the day (stocked full of board games), but works just as well for grown-up movie nights with a big bowl of popcorn and a bottle or two of great wine.
Dunmaglass Farmhouse benefits from 360º views of the Highland landscape around us – from the undulating mountains to the rolling farmland, where you can watch the sheep go about their day. The grounds are enclosed by a stone wall and gate, so your dogs can run freely without straying too far. Here you’ll find a bench for morning coffee, as well as an outdoor dining set for afternoon drinks and Summer BBQs. The gravel driveway provides plenty of parking and bike storage to the rear of the house.
Seating up to ten guests, the large wooden dining table is a wonderful focal point for lazy breakfasts and long, joyful dinners. We’ve stocked the cupboards full of all the glassware, utensils, and crockery you could need to host your friends and family underneath the antler chandelier. The dining room also hosts a little bar area, so you can bring your favourite drinks and mix cocktails all night.
Built for us by a local craftsman, our wood kitchen flows convivially into the dining space. Featuring a large island, a six-ring electric range, and a double Belfast sink, there is an abundance of space to cook together. We’ve made sure to fill the cupboards with all the pots, pans, and utensils you’ll need to keep your party fed and happy. Tesco and Asda both deliver here. Should you wish to engage a caterer for your stay, we would be happy to recommend fine local caterers who will look after you very well.
Dunmaglass has been restored with comfort and ease in mind. There are several handy spaces on the ground floor for you to store your things, including a boot room to the side of the house, and a vestibule for coats and wellies at the front door. Just off the kitchen is an ante room with a large fridge/freezer and space to store your dry goods and drinks cases.
Dunmaglass Farmhouse can sleep ten people in seven spacious, individually designed bedrooms. Each room has it’s own story to tell, from the paper on the walls to the views out beyond. We do hope you’ll feel a sense of home and peace here.
Dunmaglass Farmhouse has two WCs, two bathrooms, and two en-suite shower rooms. Each is stocked with complimentary toiletries from The White Company for you to use throughout your stay, as well as plenty of soft towels and bath linen.
